Modification of Decree 195/2004

On February 25, 2019, the Decree was modified and renamed Decree 195/2004, of December 29, 2004, on dental care for children and persons with certain clinical situations in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

The fundamental modification is the inclusion, within the free assistance of the Dental Care Plan, of the orthodontic treatment, to the population residing in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura who are entitled to health care paid for by the Extremadura Health Service and present severe malocclusion after undergoing surgery for:

  • Palatal fissure.
  • Cleft lip.
  • Another congenital craniofacial malformation.

Prior to its provision “it must be expressly authorized by the Extremadura Health Service, after a report from the maxillofacial surgeon justifying the need for the treatment”. This will be done through the benefit application form found at the end of this document.

It is aimed at residents of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura who are entitled to health care paid for by the Extremadura Health Service.

To apply for the orthodontic treatment benefit, it is necessary to fill out an Application Form that must be accompanied by:

  • Report of the pathology suffered and the surgical intervention received by Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Study and estimate of orthodontic treatment.
  • Health card of the Extremadura Health Service.
